Why was Congresswoman Lucy McBath standing alongside Al Sharpton and Ben Crump at a press conference about Nolan Wells?

It was not because she possessed evidence concerning what happened on Horn Island. She was not a witness, an investigator, or a forensic pathologist. Her political value came from something else: the emotional authority attached to the tragic murder of her son, Jordan Davis.

But Jordan Davis was murdered by an identifiable gunman who was arrested, prosecuted, convicted, and sentenced to life in prison. Nolan Wells died under circumstances that remain under investigation. No publicly established homicide, perpetrator, or racial motive currently makes these cases interchangeable.
