Massachusetts parents Joseph and Arlene Kutzko say their daughter's public school helped facilitate her social transition without their knowledge or consent. Their daughter is now in state custody, the parents have been separated from her since early 2025, and the family is fighting an ongoing legal battle.
Massachusetts officials point to separate criminal allegations involving the parents as the reason DCF intervened, while the Kutzkos and their attorney dispute the broader narrative surrounding the family's separation.
Now the U.S. Department of Education has opened an investigation into the Public Schools of Northborough and Southborough to determine whether federal parental-rights and student-privacy laws were violated.
