Freedom is not something the government gives you. Freedom is something God gave you.
In this episode of Unshakable with April Chapman, I’m addressing one of the most controversial statements I’ve made: slavery is a choice.

Now before the emotionally fragile committee starts clutching pearls and calling a meeting, listen carefully. I am not saying slavery was not evil. It was. I am not saying our ancestors did not suffer. They did. I am saying that if your rights come from God, then no government, politician, party, activist, or racial grievance merchant gets to convince you that you are still in bondage. By the eve of the Civil War, there were about 3.95 million enslaved people in the United States. Historians usually estimate somewhere between 30,000 and 100,000 slaves successfully escaped through Underground Railroad networks, especially between roughly 1830 and 1860. So out of 4 million slaves, clearly SOME CHOSE freedom over remaining a slave despite the obstacles choosing freedom imposed.

Too many people today have never picked cotton, never been enslaved, and do not know anyone who was enslaved—but they are still using slavery as a crutch to explain their failures, justify their bitterness, and remain politically dependent.

Meanwhile, Democrats keep selling black people the same tired plantation politics: failing schools, broken cities, dependency programs, gun control, lawlessness, and excuses dressed up as compassion.

No. We are done.

If you are an image bearer of God, your rights are inalienable. They are not given by the king, the president, Congress, Democrats, Republicans, activists, or the NAACP grievance choir.

Freedom came from God. The question is whether you are going to live like it.
