I recently sat down with Quisha King for a wide-ranging conversation about my journey from growing up in the Black church, to understanding the gospel for myself, confronting false teaching, questioning racial tribalism and ultimately realizing that my political worldview had to submit to Scripture.
We talk about everything from prosperity preaching and false prophecy to Black Lives Matter, the Democratic Party's relationship with the Black church, racial identity, church division, biblical freedom and what Christians should actually look for when choosing a faithful local church.
I also share some of the personal cost that came with questioning ideas I had once taken for granted.
This isn't about leaving the “Black church” to find a “white church.” It's about finding a faithful church. It's not about becoming Republican first, either. It's about being Christian first.
