Florida State Representative Angie Nixon gave us a perfect example of what happens when politicians who have benefited from race-based political power feel that power slipping away. The bullhorn came out. The theatrics came out. The “democracy is under attack” routine came out. But what did NOT come out was a clear explanation of how removing race as the central factor in redistricting violates the Constitution.

Because this was never really about Black voters.

It was about Black Democrat politicians keeping their grip on power.

For decades, majority-Black districts have produced Black representation — but have they produced better Black outcomes? Better schools? Safer neighborhoods? Stronger families? More economic opportunity? Or have they simply created a permanent political class that gets richer while the people they claim to represent stay dependent, frustrated, and politically trapped?
